My name is Tara, and my husband and I live in the Dallas area; we have four children--two grown, one in college, and one in high school. I am a certified Holistic Health and Wellness Coach.
In my 30s, my health began to rapidly decline with no apparent reason. After seeing several different doctors, I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease by a traditional medical doctor. He sent me to an endocrinologist who put me on thyroid medication. I felt great for two weeks and then started feeling terrible again. The doctor kept increasing my medication, yet I always felt exhausted. I felt so bad, I didn't see how I would be able to continue my job as a high school English Teacher. I began looking for answers outside the traditional medical model. I finally found a functional medicine doctor who did extensive lab testing and got to the root of my problem. This doctor helped me make diet and lifestyle changes that vastly improved my health, energy, and vitality.
My health struggle inspired me to help others, teaching them to avoid the disease management spiral, or if they're already there, perform a 180 and positively reverse the course of their overall health. I do this by meeting people where they are with no judgment and helping them take manageable steps to improve their health. I enjoy disseminating information to make it practical and tactical so people can integrate healthy habits into their lifestyle.
